Commitment to sustainable development, consistent with the principle of not trading the environment for economic growth, is an important similarity that Long An province and Qinghai province (China) especially emphasized at the meeting and investment connection on May 20.
Leading the Qinghai delegation was Mr. Liu Tao, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Qinghai Province. He was received by Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Long An People’s Committee, along with leaders of various provincial departments.
Speaking on behalf of Long An authorities, Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam extended his gratitude to Mr. Liu Tao and the delegation for visiting and exploring investment opportunities in Long An province.
He highlighted the crucial role of Chinese investors, stating that China currently leads in the number of projects and ranks second in total registered FDI among 40 countries and territories operating in Long An—with over 700 projects and more than 3.1 billion USD in capital.
Mr. Lam expressed his hope that, given existing potential and upcoming projects, China would soon become the top investor in Long An. He also highly valued the Qinghai delegation’s visit, considering it a significant milestone that reflects the growing friendship and cooperation between the two localities, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.
Vice Governor of the People's Government of Qinghai Province - Liu Tao expressed his appreciation for Long An's goodwill to establish friendly relations. Mr. Liu Tao commented that the two localities have certain similarities in economic development, associated with environmental protection, creating favorable conditions to enhance experience exchange and cooperation in many potential areas such as clean industry development, high-tech agriculture, trade, culture, tourism, etc.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in depth discussions on potential areas for cooperation. Long An representatives showcased the province’s strategic geographic location, rapidly developing infrastructure, favourable investment policies, and abundant workforce.
In turn, Qinghai officials shared their strengths in key industrial sectors and their experience in building a green economy. The discussions centred on potential collaborative projects, particularly in industrial zone investment, high-tech agricultural value chains, cultural exchanges, and tourism development—all aimed at promoting sustainable and mutually beneficial growth.
Earlier the same day, the Qinghai Provincial Delegation conducted a field survey at Long An International Port (Can Giuoc District) and Shundao Vietnam Company Limited (Thuan Dao Industrial Park, Ben Luc District).
With Long An’s existing advantages, this visit is expected to create opportunities for Qinghai to introduce and connect its enterprises with Long An, paving the way for future investment collaboration and enhancing the cooperative relationship between the two provinces in particular and Vietnam - China in general./.
